Requesting Advice Okay so I am on 3x 800 mg a day for about a year. I have gotten to where I am having horrible tolerance withdrawal with anxiety and intrusive thoughts and shaking. This always happens between my first and second dose of the day. I take my first dose early in the morning and barely feel it. So my question is, why do they make 800mg gabapentin? Is it because people tolerance builds over time? Like 300mg for a long time user wouldn't absorb the same because if the body adaption of tolerance? Im just wondering because I have 400mg gabas and a couple 800mg's aswell. And would me taking an 800mg have a higher effect on me? My diagnosis is idiopathic sensory ganglionopathy. Fortunately, I have minimal side effects from the gabapentin. Initially, 2016, I was taking 1200 mg 3x/day. (I did this for about 2 years) I then weaned to 800 mg 3x/day. (I did this for about 2 years) The last 4 years, I have been taking 800 mg 2x/day. Occasionally I will need it three times I’m usually prescribed gabapentin 300 mg but my doctor just prescribed one 800 mg pill at night. I usually take 300 mg every 30-45 minutes and about 7-8 pills in I feel pretty good. My doctor just prescribed me Gabapentin 100mg 3x per day for anxiety. She said she’s had much success with patients who can’t use benzos. And the online reviews are very positive. If you just down a bunch of pills, chances are you won't be feeling much of anything, besides a very subtle high. When I started on gabapentin (I only take 400mg at night) my doctor told me that the upper limit for dosing on gabapentin is very high and it’s generally well-tolerated, aside from potential cognitive and other side effects which vary from person to person.
