The FDA does list these issues as possible side effects of taking Gabapentin, along with dizziness, headache, dry mouth and mood swings. However, most side effects do tend to improve, as your body gets used to the medication, but it may take a month or so. Good news is that symptoms didn’t last as long. Mind that each time, I gave up about 3 weeks into it and lowered the dosage everytime. I stuck it out and things eventually subsided, but it was a killer. I’ve tried to take Gabapentin three times during my taper. The med is like a miracle drug. However, for the first few hours of the day, the Gabapentin related dizziness is awful. It takes a while to fade, and during that time, it is really hard to function, hard to walk without feeling like I'm going to fall over, etc. I felt kind of dizzy this afternoon. I've been taking 300mg of gabapentin every morning for exactly a week now. Ive had TMJ For about 2+ years. Never felt this way before. Should I keep taking the 300mg gabapentin? The dizziness subsided completely after those first two weeks but recently it comes on severely from taking just one capsule. It hits me about an hour after my normal dose.
