I have two herniated disc and was given that for my nerve and muscle pain. Try asking for Tramadol for pain if they don’t want to give you a narcotic. That’s what helped me with pain especially on days that I could not walk and needed to work. I take it for hip dysplasia (i also have a herniated disc at l4-l5 causing sciatica). I don't really notice any great improvements until I forget to take it and then my hip is really hurting. However I should note that i don't feel like it does anything to reduce the sciatic pain from the herniated disc. Not likely: It would be very unusual for Gabapentin to make pain worse. It is very effective for a radiculopathy like Sciatica from a herniated disc. I strongly suspect your increased pain was unrelated to the Gabapentin.
