Love it for nerve pain but it's useless for my migraines, joint pain, and muscle pain. It'd be great to hear people's individual experiences in terms of when they started to feel nerve pain relief, at what dosage, and how side effects changed as you titrated up. Was the nerve pain relief gradual or sudden once you reached a certain dose? For me, I'm trying to get up to 300mg TID, going up by 100mg each day. Other meds used are Pregablin (Lyrica) which is an epileptic like neurontin and also an antidepressant called Cymbalta. I take a combo of Amitriptyline (an older antidepressant used for nerve pain) and Neurontin. I was prescribed gabapentin for nerve entrapment in my elbows, which was causing numbness and tingling in my hands and lower arms. Didn’t help much and I certainly didn’t notice any sedating effects at all. My allowable dose was up to 300 mg 3x a day, though, so not the max amount. I have back pain with most lifting activities that the Gabapentin helps with. At first the Gabapentin made me really sleepy but I got used to it and it no longer knocks me out thank goodness. There is a separate reddit for Gabapentin if you are interested in learning more. There are some abusers over there so view at your own discretion. I was on 1200 mg x 3 per day. It worked. It wiped out my sciatic nerve pain. It took 2 years to get to that dose, because my tolerance kept building over time. When I first started Gabapentin it would just make me sleep all the time. Eventually it had zero side effects at that high dose. Missing a dose did though. The only noticeable side effect was major weight gain, which in turn had a My bestie had terrible side effects with gabapentin, but Lyrica is great for them. I'm tapering down on gabapentin (from 2700 daily to 600) and starting Lyrica. After almost two weeks it seems positive for overall pain management, but my diabetic neuropathy related nerve pain is noticeably worse. I only took gabapentin for a short period of time (less than a month) and stopped taking it after a short discussion with my primary care team about gabapentin for neuropathy when I only have numbness and no pain.
