Gabapentin vs Lyrica Posted by maria7521 @maria7521, Jul 31, 2018 I wondering which is better, Gabapentin or Lyrica? I’m on Gabapentin for nerve pain. What are your thoughts? Is one better than the other? Interested in more discussions like this? Go to the Neuropathy Support Group. Welcome to /r/gabapentin, here we primarily discuss issues pertaining to the medical, prescribed use of Gabapentin, Lyrica and Phenibut, as well as other Gaba related drugs. GABAGoodness is devoted to the discussion of all GABAergics, Gabapentnoids and VDCC inhibitors such as Pregabalin, Gabapentin, Phenibut, Carisoprodol, GHB, Benzodiazepines, Barbiturates, and more! This is a great place to ask general or recreational questions, get harm reduction advice, or share your experience with withdrawal syndromes. For professional counseling, ask your psychiatrist or So the doctor said not to take these two pills together. However, they switched me to Lyrica halfway through my gabapentin script. So I’m taking Lyrica and still have about 45 gabapentin 800’s. What’s the risk? Will it benefit in doing both together for a better high? Curious, but don’t want to have a seizure or something. Anybody done them together or have information? Gabapentin was better for anxiety and Lyrica was better for mood for me. Lyrica had a stronger body "energy/buzz" than gabapentin as well so if that part makes you uncomfortable you probably won't like lyrica. Lyrica may also be used to treat neuropathic (nerve) pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy or postherpetic neuralgia, spinal cord injury, and fibromyalgia Gabapentin may also be used to treat nerve pain caused by shingles (herpes zoster) and gabapentin enacarbil, brand name Horizant, is also approved for restless legs syndrome (RLS). Pregabalin takes my social anxiety away completely but it gives me no pleasant high or euphoria or nothing.. I just feel like I have done speed without getting the confidence.. just very alert without anxiety. Gabapentin gives me a bit of euphoria, makes me more social but doesn't take away the anxiety. I was thinking taking them both together - has anyone taken them together and what were the I tried both gabapentin and cymbalta (not together) and found no relief. My neuropathy in my feet is from a drug I took for multiple myeloma (velcade). I’ve been on Lyrica for about 4 or 5 years. It’s worked well to take the edge off the pain, but recently my feet have gotten worse so my doc and I have been testing higher doses. I've always wanted to try Lyrica but my doctor thinks my 300mg of Gabapentin 4 times a day is good. Would you say you like Lyrica or Gabapentin better? (BTW I've taken 150mg of Lyrica, 600mg of gabapentin, and 100mg of tramadol. I'm wanting to get a buzz tonight, would it be safe to take anymore Lyrica or gaba? I’ve come to realise Gabapentin doesn’t do much shit to me but Pregabalin for me is the bomb 💣 and I love it. I’ve shit loads of Gabapentin left over and was wondering is their a possibility of mixing the two and will it be worthwhile? Or will it dull the stimulating and psychedelic (for me) type effects of Pregabalin? If I should mix how should the combo be and what mgs? Currently I I have taken gabapentin and Lyrica. I would advise you not to take either as they can sometimes make symptoms worse. Also increase anxiety if you have GAD as I do Pregabalin (Lyrica) and gabapentin (Neurontin) are both approved to treat nerve pain. How are they different, and which one is preferred? Compare both meds here. Gabapentin (Neurontin) and pregabalin (Lyrica) both belong to a class of drugs called gabapentinoids, which means they work in similar ways. They're both used to treat chronic pain in certain conditions. 10 votes, 59 comments. I'm on lyrica right now because my primary doctor recommended it, but this other doctor I saw said gabapentin is much better Pregabalin is structurally related to the antiepileptic drug gabapentin and the site of action of both drugs is similar, the alpha2-delta (alpha2-delta) protein, an auxiliary subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels. Click to expand Gabapentin I'm prescribed 800mg Gabapentin x 3 a day from my psychiatrist which I've been taking for years. Was just prescribed 50 mg of Pregabalin x 3 a day from my pain management doctor. From my understanding best results would be to break the 800 mgs Gabapentins in half and take it every couple hours along with Pregabalin? My bestie had terrible side effects with gabapentin, but Lyrica is great for them. I'm tapering down on gabapentin (from 2700 daily to 600) and starting Lyrica. After almost two weeks it seems positive for overall pain management, but my diabetic neuropathy related nerve pain is noticeably worse. I'm interested in trying either Pregabalin or Gabapentin. I tried Valium a few months ago, which was my first experience of using any drug recreationally. I liked the anxiolytic and relaxation effects but I want to try something more euphoric. I can get hold of Pregabalin or Gabapentin pretty easily. I would be starting with the smallest dose possible to see how I react to it. If you are Lyrica and Gabapentin combination Significant increase in effects of both substances at low-end doses. Also individually these have notable differences. Why are they considered so similar?
