I would not take lyrica after having suicidal ideation with gabapentin. They tried to move me to that and 1) it didn’t work at all and 2) same weird feelings I was dragged to pharmacy kicking and screaming for methadone and it was a great choice. I didn’t want the stigma of opiate issues etc. Turns out many people take methadone for nerve pain. Gabapentin was slightly better as far as helping with anxiety, but they are about the same as far as pain relief. I'm tapering down on gabapentin (from 2700 daily to 600) and starting Lyrica. Hi everyone. I have spinal stenosis in my L5 S1 and bursitis in both my hips and it’s been causing me lots of pain for months. I already did steroid injections and they were unsuccessful. Doctor wants me to start taking either gabapentin or Lyrica. Have any of you had success with either of these meds for this specific problem? I’m already doing heat and ice, Tylenol and Advil, Flexeril Here’s my TMI: Lyrica is 6xs stronger than gabapentin and while I definitely experienced pain relief and it also obliterated my anxiety, I always felt somewhat “high” or altered in a way gabapentin never made me feel. I also got super uninhibited and spent too much money late at night without a care. I also gained a lot of weight. Gabapentin or Lyrica for nerve pain? I’ve been on 600 mg 4 times a day gabapentin for the past for years for pain associated with my herniated discs/cervical stenosis, etc. my doctor offered me lyrica to see if that works better, but I’m worried about side effects/it not being as effective. Has anyone taken both? Hey all. I’m feeling like I keep needing more Gabapentin to be comfortable with my nerve pain. Already I am on a high dose of 2400mg a day. Doctor said you can take more, but am nervous to keep going up. Anyones experience with that fine to go higher ? Also if I ask about lyrica do I have to ween off gabapentin first to try that or can I ween off while taking lyrica already . Anyone have any Hey guys, question is simple I was just wondering if lyrica is more effective for pinched nerve pain over gabapentin. Also does gabapentin work better with any other drugs or lyrica? The only kind of pain that either of them relieved for me was that burning nerve pain. Never helped anything else. Gabapentin was better for anxiety and Lyrica was better for mood for me. Lyrica had a stronger body "energy/buzz" than gabapentin as well so if that part makes you uncomfortable you probably won't like lyrica. I take Gabapentin for anxiety/nerve pain from a car accident that broke both my femurs and left arm. Had like 6-8 main fractures on the right femur and one fracture each on the left femur and arm. It seems most people could have taken half the amount of vicodin/tramadol and gotten relief from pain and probably been too much, but for me tramadol at any dose didn't do squat, vicodin took like 4-6 and I felt relief but only 30-40% better but hey enough to function and study.
