I've just been prescribed Gabapentin for pain and sleep and am very nervous about starting it. The doctor suggested a very low dose of 100mg to begin with but after reading up on it I'm wondering if I should even bother. I have joint pain (tested negative for RA and lupus) and some insomnia, but I also have lifelong depression and am aware that Gabapentin can contribute to suicidal thoughts 18 votes, 14 comments. It’s the daily high dose recreational use that raises tolerance quickly. I have a interest in trying this as it is said to normalise gaba function. Abnormalities in the gaba system from staying on zyprexa for many years may be why I can’t sleep without zyprexa. If you look around reddit and google it as well, Gabapentin has helped A LOT of people with sleep issues. Especially when you can fall asleep but then wake up throughout the night.
