My thinking is tapering kratom is likely not going to introduce new issues. If the reduction is slow enough/small enough withdrawal should be minimal or even imperceptible. Gabapentin can help reduce some discomfort of withdrawal but won’t necessarily block all of them. Which ones you may experience and how consequential you might find them are variable. Both sides in this Reddit seem to be right and wrong. Yes gabapentin is helpful for people in our situation, probably one of the most effective tools we have as far alleviating RLS and Lessing other symptoms which will allow for sleep. However, people saying gabapentin is not as physically/mentally addictive are also wrong. Kratom and gabapentin can both cause dependence, meaning you can go through a nasty withdrawal syndrome by stopping both substances cold-turkey after you’ve taken them daily for even as short as a month or two.
