I have had ON symptoms for about 10 years, but only recently went to a Neurologist and was diagnosed. They are both Gabapentinoids which means they decrease the over stimulation of damaged nerves which is why the help with neuralgia. I have tried gabapentin and I had side effects and now I am taking amitriptyline, but I have a dry mouth and it doesn't reduce the pain so I can ignore or forget about it. Has anyone taken Funny you should mention that actually, so I have pretty bad nerve pain from the hips up and occipital from an injury. When my pain was getting worse I was put on gabapentin and for me that helped the neuralgia quite a bit but I had to take 1800mg a day and that shit turns you into a zombie. Gabapentin is the only medication that has helped me. The first time I was on it my ON significantly improved and weaned off it and I was ok for 12 years. I am back on it and we are still working on the right dose so its not as magical as it was the first time and I have some other issues that might be complicating things.
